Pre Cat O2 sensor
It is against federal regulations to tamper with or remove emissions equipment on a registered vehicle that is used on public highways without expressed written consent of your state DOT re-registering your vehicle with an X declaration. With that said, I cannot tell you that removing your catalytic converter can result in an increase in power, nor would I recommend that you buy a sensor adapter for the O2 sensor to fool the computer if you did, in fact, remove the catalytic converter. I would also, not tell you that there are many companies online that sell the resitors for your wire harness at around $8 a piece.
I have heard, that buying "test pipes" to replace your catalytic converter, for test runs at your local track, are nice, because as soon as your done racing, you can easily return the exhaust to stock before your annual inspection, I mean before you drive your vehicle on a public road, if that is a concern in your area.

the only reason i took the cat off is because it was goin bad and did not have the money to replace it, i plan on gettin one in the near future, will a aftermarket magnaflow cat work as well as the OEM cat?
i ask radom questions because im still learning a lot about cars and trucks. I just got into really gettin into workin on vehicles cause of when i bought my dakota, and im takin auto classes at the local community college so i still have a lot to learn, so if you read any of my past articles and they sounded different or just random, its because i get curious
just hollow the cat out and put it back on for "looks". you opend the exhaust up now less restriction , prolly wont notice any gains but the o2 needs to stay , they help calculate your fuel trims.

Coolant temp sensor is mainly used while the vehicle is warming up. Once it surpasses the required temp, the coolant sensor has no value (of interest). The O2 sensor picks up, once the probe is about 600 degree's (changes depending), there are other sensors, but going by your specific question, one of your sensors are losing output. You should study the lambda principle if you want to learn about the EFI sensors affects (aptly named "The Brettschneider equation") . Try a data scanner to see if you get any codes.
