If this produces nothing, try Google searching junk yard, or used auto parts, etc, since there are several sites that can send requests nation wide, and the places that have the part will email you back with pricing.

When I replaced my transfer case, I used transfercases.com. Their current price for a REBUILT (not new, but also not 150,000 on the original stuff) NP231 is $695.00. So keep that in mind, depending on how much other people might want to charge for a used one (face it: some people are crooks).
(Please note: I only am saying that I happened to use that particular site. I'm NOT saying you should use it, or that it is any better, or worse, than any other site. I haven't had an issue with the 2,000 miles I've put on it, but the site and price is for informational use only)

As far as other BRANDS, no. There are NP231's in Jeeps and Chevy's (NP231J, and NP231C, respectively), but they are setup slightly different.

As long as you get one out of a Dodge (NP231D), you should be fine, V6 or V8. I'm not sure what exactly is different from year-to-year, but as long as it's a NP231D, it should work really.
