Default radiator replacement

I am in the middle of replacing the radiator everything has been by the book up to what about the A/C condensor? this unit is mounted to the radiator and you can't move the radiator enough to remove the mounting screws located at the bottom. It looks like I must open the A/C system and then remove the condensor with the radiator is this correct or am I missing something?

No they are not connected together. Where do you think they are connected together? To remove the radiator, unbolt the 2 screws on the sides of the radiator and lift it up. I'm not sure what you do on the shroud but remove that and the mechanical fan first.

I agree with you and so do all the books. however the fround of the radiator has a bracket at the top of it. where the condensor has a arm that slides in then at the bottom there again is a bracket this time with a bolt that is almost impossabile to get to.

WTF do you have the grille off? The radiator is held in by two bolts and isn't connected to the condenser, at least in 91(or 92)+ trucks.

Thats crazy...
What year and engine do you have?

I did a Rad swap on my 93 318 awhile ago and all I had to do was remove the shroud and it slid right out.

same here, altho I can add to this a bit....the 95 service manual tells me to remove the condensor to get at the tranny cooler. LIKE HELL I WILL !!!!
remove the shroud screws, push it over the fan blade, then remove the radiator, and the trans cooler is completely accessible...

I just did the radiator on a '96 3.9 auto/air. I didn't need to touch the a/c condenser. But pulling the 'quick connect' trans cooler lines off the bottom of the radiator was a PITA. Pull the coolant bottle, disconnect the upper/lower hose, unclip the top, unbolt the 2 bolts on the shroud and wiggle it off. 30 minutes +/- to remove.
