He is talking about the heater hose, where you leak is. Cut it to get a fresh clamping point.

ok..got everything back together...water pump is not leaking..but it is leaking from the thermostat housing..i think i may have stripped a bolt..also when i got everything back together(i disconnected neg bat cable) when i started it, the engine is idling VERY high...like 1400 to 2000 rpms...i looked and everything looks like it is back together right..but something is amiss...i let it run like that for a few minutes and it started to overheat...but at least i got the water pump back on leak free!!!!now i just have to use a heli coil, which i've never done, to fix the thermostat leak , and then find out why i'm idling so dang high...i'll go and get it on video right now so maybe some one can help me out

ok guys..here's the vid...i know you can't tell much from this vid, but you'll see how the idle is kinda high...when i give it gas then letting off immediatley, it takes a while for the rpms to drop...also when i go the shut the engine off, it takes a while to shut down, it has never done that before...vacuum line leak maybe?? i did have the one beside the thermostat housing off for better access...anyway if anyone has any ideas i'm all ears

Typically after you reset the PCM, like when you disconnected the battery. The PCM will take a few days to relearn all the engine parameters. So for those few days you will get high and low idles slight lower HP and MPG and you will notice it is not like it was. The more you drive it the more it learns and will get things back down to normal.

ok that makes me feel a little better about things..i wasn't gonna drive it but i will now...i still need to fix the small leak from the thermostat housing..i've either stripped the bolt holes out, or overtightened, undertighted, or something...cause this will be 2 times i've put it back together and it is still leaking..

pull the bolts out for the thermostat and look at them. Check your thermostat gasket and try putting RTV on it and see what happens.

I can't remember what the issue was but I know when I replaced my thermostat that something was wrong and all I had to do was make sure that the 2 wire (pcm) coolant sensor was plugged in correctly. I must have knocked it loose by accident since it is right beside the thermostat housing.
Just make sure that it is tight and sitting properly

one of my bolt show some signs of stripping out on he first thread or two, but they seem to tighten down...i used rtv with the gasket, once on one side and this time on both sides, but still have a leak...i know the bolts should be torqued to 25-30 ft lbs, maybe i'm overtightening cause i got them pretty snug. i also clean both surface really well with a wire wheel so that's not the issue..but something is causing it to leak i just can't figure it out

update...i seem to have found the problem with my leak..the small hose between the thermostat/water outlet and the temp sending unit?, i had disconnected to get better access to thermostat, the hose had small puncture in it..i cut it off and put on a new clamp, tightened it down, now the leak is gone and also my high idle has gone,...drove it to work this morning and it seems to be good to go..before i found the puncture, i removed my iac to check it out, and it came out in pieces!!! the valve and spring was all the was extended and was in three pieces..i just put this new iac on a few weeks ago..so i put my old one back in and it seems to be doing fine..should i reassemble the new one and put it back in or is it shot??...the old one is fine for now but i don't know how long it will last...the new one i got from rock auto and i think it is past the 30 day return period.
