Why wont my truck start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I gave my truck (1989 3.9L Auto 2wd) a tune up yesterday for Christmas. New plugs, wires, rotor, cap, fuel filter, and air filter. i had to replace one of the fuel lines by the fuel filter because it was cracked but i replaced it with a little smaller i.d. and yesterday it took awhile to start yesterday and i took it for a test drive and it ran mint. then i started it later that day but today it wouldn't start. i put some gas in the throttle body and it still wouldn't start. Does anyone have a clue about what is wrong?
pull one of your plugs out put it back on the wire and lay it on your manifold and have someone turn the truck over and make sure your getting spark.I have read of people buying faulty caps brand new in the box.
well pulled one of the plugs and no spark, put a screwdriver in the wire and laid it next to the exhaust manifold and no spark, switched to the old cap no spark, switched to old rotor no spark, switched it all back and no spark. WLF FML What could it be? Could it be a blown fuse

i just went out there to check the coil with my multimeter and couldn't figure out how to do it. It said in the manual that you put it on ohms and touch it to the two terminals on it, so i did and nothing showed up on my multimeter. Do you have to have the truck turned on? Then i put one wire in the wire hole that goes to the distributor and one on one of the outside terminals one showed up as 9.36 ohms and then switched outside terminals and it came up 0. So does any one have an idea what is wrong.
i ran into the same problem with a jeep Comanche i had. i did a major tune up on it and it died in the middle of the woods , i checked and found no spark. finally figured out the new rotor button was defective and only lasted about 100 miles (140 k).
well i tried the old cap and rotor that worked before the tune up and still no spark

A bad coil would be the next best issue .I've personally never tested one but have had them go bad that fast.I took an older car I had some yrs ago to the local store and when I came out wouldn't start.Changed the coil after testing plugs like I had suggested to you and it started right up.If you feel you'd rather test it first by all means go ahead.Local Autozone here sells them for around $40...
