Im not necessarily set on what adhesive you use. If you take all the right steps to make sure there is a good bond, I dont think you would have any problems.

I am about ready to recover mine, I am getting tired of all the old foam and glue falling down when the windows are down.

I done the same thing as mentioned above with the soft bristled car wash brush to remove the glue. I used the 3M headliner adhesive and redone my headliner in realtree hardwoods camo. I also redone the upper and lower door panels and the panel behind the seat also. I havnt done the visors yet though.Here are a few pics

That camo stuff looks good! I am looking to do that to my truck in the future.
