Default Dakota randomly dies out

I have a 1993 Dodge Dakota V6. I'll be driving the truck and sometimes it'll just die out. It happens randomly, but usually occurs when i'm trying to accelrate on the gas pedal. I try to restart the truck and usually it doesn't start right away. After it dies I don't hear the fuel pump make that swirl noise. Once you wait around 3 minutes, the truck will eventually start again. I've replaced the fuel pump multiple times, fuel pump relay, shutdown relay, fuel filter, and mutiple sensors. Anybody know what could be wrong??

I had just about the same problem as you are having and my turned out to be a bad computer. Does your truck act weird at times as in hesitating or sputtering. When I took the computer off I pulled the front case off and found the black heat sink stuff was cracked allowing moisture to the board which shorted it out at random times.

Yes! The truck starts to sputter when I press on the gas sometimes. Was the computer hard to replace?

It could be anything.
When it doesn't start, did you check for spark? Fuel? Did you make sure you have correct fuel pressure? Did you check the check engine light codes?

One possibility is the Notorious power splices just below the relay box under the hood. Check the FAQ in this section for a great write up on it with tons of pictures.

The computer is not hard to replace it is 3 screws that hold it to the inside passenger fender and one bolt holds the connector on. Next time it dies spray some starting fluid in the intake tube and see if she fires up that will rule out the auto shut down feature. I tried the notorious splice fix with no luck on my problem but give that a try on yours. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...ml#post1678925

I checked the fuel pressure while it's idling, its fine. but when the truck randomly dies out, I checked the fuel pressure again and there was none. That would be the reason why the truck won't start back up right away. I already replaced the fuel pump twice.

I checked the splices by the fuse box and they are fine. Not sure where to go from here..

When she dies spray some starter fluid in the intake tube to rule out the auto shut down feature. Check your computer connector make sure it's tight. Pull the computer housing apart there are a couple torx screws holding it on and see if the black stuff is cracked if so replace your computer it is shorting out like mine did.

What about the fuel pressure regulator? Could that make it die out?

It could but when my truck died I check the pressure and there was none because the pump was not turning on. The problem was the computer shorting out and not supplying the fuel pump relay with proper ground.
