yeah i've looked at all the SAS stuff

What year ram should it be off of and I think ill fabricate the hangers and perches

whats a backing plate?

drivers side drop means the pumpkins on the drivers side right

I'm not sure what years but www.napaonline.com has lots of details and pictures. Use 1/4 plate, you can get cheep ones pre-made from www.summitracing.com

The top or bottom plate the leaf springs bolt to.

ok i know what your taking about now

what do you think is the cheapest way of converting to 4x4 solid axle

a junkyard
craigslist
or what
at my local-ish pick a part i can get a trans, transfer case, front axle, flywheel, leaf springs, clutch stuff, pedals, and driveshafts for around $600 do you think i can get this stuff for a better price somewhere else
plus i will need new gears and also maybe lockers

you know what might also be cool but i want opinions is that im thinking of making a awesome 2wd off road demon. beefy tires and a small lift manual trans and a locker. maybe a winch and bumpers. Is there any way i could get a 4wd trans and transfer case and only use it in 2wd until i put a axle in front

well this has nothing to do with this topic but today i took my bed off the truck and my truck is pretty rust free compared to others. Im now thinking of putting a flatbed on it. ill make it out of wood and make it look nice. The thing im wondering about is what is the best way to get rid of the bed. Scraping isnt going to be worth it. If I sell it how much should i sell it for it has alittle rust on the fender wells and barely any on the bottom of the bed. inside the bed is spotless.

Cheapest way is to buy a truck with a solid axle. Most pre 90's they can be picked up cheep.

Next cheapest is to have a donor truck to pull everything off as you go.

Next is the junkyard, $600 sounds good.

Yes you can get the transmission and transfercase 4wd and drive shafts from a Dakota then it is an easy swap.

Cool! I've been wanting to do a flat bed if I kill the bed one of these days. There is a good write up in the FAQ2.

im going to buy up all the parts i need for the swap then when i have it all ill convert it
