Default 2nd gen fuel tank

Will it bolt into a first gen dakota? I've wanted the bigger fuel tank and found one out of an 03, but will it bolt right in place of my 15 gallon? Will the 95 factory sending unit bolt in place? If not, will the 03 unit PLUG right into my stock harness?

Im sure you can make the tank fit. You may have to make a custom strap. I do know that the fuel pumps are different between the 95 and 03 so you would have to use a tank and pump out of a 5.9 and not sure if the 4.7 pump will provide enough fuel pressure. hope this helps in some way.

Ya I'm sure it can be done like said above, but you might as well just find a 22 gallon 1st Gen tank. Drop right in no problem, everything is swappable.

yup I swapped the 15 gallon out of my 94 and put a 22 gallon right in that came from a 93; I had to put my '94 sending unit in that tank though because the 93 was dual line fuel system and 94 is single line.

I just pulled the clutch pedals and dash pad from a 93 reg cab shortbed; in the glovebox, was the owners manual and orig window sticker; this truck came from the factory with the 22 gallon tank; i mistakenly thought that only the longbed or club cab could be had with the 22 gallon version; though I can verify that the 22 gallon tank will fit where a 15 was, and that the sending units are the same between the 15 gallon tank and the 22 because I did this; I got a 22 gallon tank from a JY that came from a 93 for only $20.
this would be the easiest most hassle free solution to your question; tank straps are even the exact same.
I do have the 15 gallon takn out of my 94 (wanna experiment putting dual tanks on somehow? LOL)

Nah, I'd be happy with just one 22 gallon. I know a short bet could get one, just gotta find one in a yard with a 22 gallon, or better yet, a first gen dak in a yard around here anymore.

where's "around here"? If it;s in the south suburbs of Chicago I could out you in touch with the guy that has the 93 that I got the dash pad, clutch pedal set etc, from; He did say that the sending unit was fairly new relative to when he parked the truck and decided to retire it; if I get back by there before he gets the motor and tranny pulled I was thinking of getting it for that sending unit; both my trucks have the non functional gas gauge option; good thing for trip meters..... AKA redundant gas gauge....... there are a few other good parts on that truck available yet.
