I have a 96 Dakota throwing a52 code, could this happen because I hollowed out the cat. I did the anti foul trick

 

It is possible you messed it up due to the hollowed out catalytic converter , since 96-up has 2 oxygen sensors. (1 before and 1 after the cat )

52** Fuel system rich

It could also be a leaky fuel injector or a bad fuel pressure regulator or weak spark.

Since it is a 96 it is OBDII so you do have the OBDII connector which when using a scanner or a code reader it can give you more detailed trouble code.
