Ya I agree. I have 2 friends at work that have lifted trucks. 1 09 Chevy 2500 35's I keep on telling him lets go hit some trails, he always finds an excuse not to. LOL Another friend has a 97 Chevy 1500 35's I think Long bed 4 door same thing always finds an excuse. They don't want to loose the tire shine they got on the tires. LOL



Thanks. Ya I was thinking of bolting it to the frame. The frame is about 1/8in same as the bars so it should be strong enough with grade 8 bolts.

That will be a cool project.

 

Forgot to mention that I had to cut out the back corners of the liner to fit in the bars and just cut out a small section on the wheel wells for the mounts. I still got the wiring to do then I'll be done.

 

Before I read all the way though the thread I kept saying to my self "that thing looks like it came factory " looks really good man it gives your truck that little extra pop to make it complete. You have a badass truck. Great job.

 

Thanks. I keep on thinking to myself that others who might not know my truck real well would think didn't you have one already? Since it fits the look real well.

The only negative thing is it blocks off half of the bed if your loading something in from the side. You will have to load it from more the rear, more of an inconvenience than anything.
The loss bed space is only limited to the sides no more than what the wheel wells already take up. Also if I want to use my Camper Shell I can unbolt the bars quite easily.

 

Man are these bright way brighter then my high beams.

 

Now if someone bright lights you, you can run them off the road lol.

just so you know, these weren't exclusive to Indy trucks but also were on the 89 Sports and you could buy them through the dealer, first time I saw one was my old neighbors 89 LE 4x4 with the dealer installed mopar one

I've look through the parts manuals for 87-96 I haven't seen it listed, so I wondered about it.

 

So I know this is a really old thread, but I just bought a 93 dakota and it came with this bar. I was wondering if anyone knew where to plug it in. I have the wires coming out of the bottom of the bar from the lights, but can't figure out where to plug it in. I looked through my Haynes book, but it just shows how to remove the bar
