Default Bed light bar aka roll bar pics.

Most people would call it a roll bar, but a TRUE roll bar blots to the frame. So this is a Bed light bar. Dodge calls the bar sitting on the bed rails a Sports Bar.

So I found the Light bar in a Craigslist ad. He had it listed for $150. I waited a week to jump on it. I told him I wouldn't spend more then $50 on it and I would get it out of his way right now, he took it. He said it came from a 92 Dodge Dakota short bed. He didn't know what brand it is or if it was factory. There are no tags or marks to indicate.

The lights are 9x7 they say TLC, I'll replace them when I can afford some HD ones. I don't know if they work yet. I plan is now to remove the plastic liner and use a roll on or spray on bed liner. Hopefully I can mount the bar in in the next day or two when ever I decide to rip off the bed liner and clean under it good.

The tube is 3in in diameter and 1/8 steal and the mounts are 3/16 thick. My plans for the bar is maybe to make the upper lights fold-able since I can only clear parking structures by a few inches. I want to weld up some mounts to mount up a shovel, ax, high lift jack fire extinguisher.

Edit: Added in new pictures. More in post below.

Here it is fully dissembled the way I picked it up.

Thanks.

Thanks to Sobiecam for stating that it looks like the factory Indy 500 Dakota special edition light bar. Which after looking over lots of Google photos indeed it is a Indy 500 Dakota bar.

Here is a photo from another members truck. Same light bar, notice the bolts in the same locations and the angle of the rear bar even to the lights.

Thanks guys.

I got it partially installed. I would have taken pictures but its to dark right now. I'll finish and post up pics in the AM. Man this this looks good and it doesn't take up as much room as I thought.

On my local Craigslist there is a guy selling a brand new brush guard. If anyone is interested see if the guy is willing to ship.

That looks good. I miss the roll bar look. When I was a kid all the 4x4's had them. They werent all just for show.Trucks were used in those days and needed them. But then 98% of the 4x4's on the road today will never see dirt unless they go through road construction.

Looks slick, dude. If it's sturdy enough to be a true rollbar, you should fab up some brackets to connect them to the frame.

One of my next projects is going to be a rollbar and mounting extra (removable) seats in the bed.
