Ok i need some help here, i just picked up a 92 Dakota ext cab 4x4 5.2 and it needs some help and i have been starting to wrench on it. When i start the truck it idle perfect no hesitation.. when i shift into drive or reverse and TAP the gas the idle falls on its face and the truck dies. I have a new TPS, IAC, Fresh gas, Cleaned Carb and Coolant Temp Sensor.. I am losing my mind with this at the moment so any help would be greatly appreciated !!!
Its not uncommon to get a bad sensor right out of box if you bought it from anywhere but the dealer. Make sure he new sensors are good and also like 93missdakota said there are some times 2 coolant temp sensors and the one to the left with one wire is the one for the pcm. The other is for the gauge and will not affect how the engine runs.
Tons of possibilities low fuel pressure/volume via bad pump or dirty filter or clogged injectors ect. Vacuum leak which would include a bad EGR valve. A bad MAP sensor. Weak spark from coil or plugs or wire or cap and rotor. Bad IAC tons new out of the box are bad.
