Default cams when cold

It idles like you put an after market cam in it like a built motor would sound like and idles ruff its hard to discribe runs good after warming up but has a mild miss that u can feel you can watch rpm move up and down a little.

Its probably the coolant temp sensor. Im not sure on the V6 but on the V8 some have 2 (one 1 wire for pcm and one 2 wire for the gauge ) the one for the pcm tells pcm to adjust air/fuel mixture until engine until the O2 sensor warms up and takes over. If you haven't changed your coolant temp sensor thn it could be the problem. Also remove and clean the throttle body and idle air control valve. Once you do both of those it should purrr like a kitten

I think he means it lopes. My truck does that but only because it has a cam in it

So what your saying is it's the 2 wire sensor that needs to be replaced? or the 1 wire sensor. As far as I knew, the one wire sensor was for the gauge, and the 2 wire is for the PCM. Thats how the Haynes manual describes it anyway..

my 3.9l v6 does the exact same thing. It lopes on a cold start sometimes and then smooths out after 20 seconds or so and then runs fine. Keep us posted if replacing the coolant sensor fixes this, if so I will replace mine too.
