NO RTV period
if you have a gouge use anarobic gacket maker , permatex makes one
anarobic means it cures without air
using rtv and no gasket is asking for a breakdown
using rtv with or without a gasket gets crap in your tranny
I see that there are "special" rtv's for oil and tranny fluid
I have not tested
any guinnea pigs out there?
If you want to use a dressing on your gasket use Hylomar

I found the leak. It was the dipstick. I pulled it and it is cracked where the seal is. Looks like whoever pulled the transmission didn't take the tube out and cracked it. Parts store doesn't carry them. I guess i will be calling the salvage yard to see if i can find one.

Anybody have an extra one from a teardown or something.
