Lightbulb Ram/Charger Taillights Fit 87-96 Dakota?

Do the 70s/80s Rams and Ram Chargers tail lights fit the 87-96 Dakota or are they taller? They make aftermarkets for Rams but not Dakotas.

Very limited selection unless you mean for fitment.

Dammit I was just told the trim is wider, they don't make aftermarket taillights for Dakota's. Only this one design:

I was thinking about taking just the clear lens and attaching it to a factory backing with red LED, maybe smoke the lens with clear coat + a splash of black paint mixed together.

Yes it looks like the Ram/Ramchargers tail lights had a wider trim but even with that it will fit. Doing a quick Google search reveals lots of sites selling the same exact tail light for all 3 trucks.

Fits the Following Vehicles
Dodge Dakota Pickup Truck 1987 1988 1989 1990 1991 1992 1993 1994 1995 1996

Dodge Pickup Truck 1981 1982 1983 1984 1985 1986 1987 1988 1989 1990 1991 1992 1993

Dodge Ramcharger 1981 1982 1983 1984 1985 1986 1987 1988 1989 1990 1991 1992 1993

Also there is the stock style lights with chrome accents on the trims.

Oh really? I wonder if it's typo or if they would really fit.

Yeah I know they had chrome trim taillights from the factory I just don't like them, I'm liking the clear lens idea with the factory backing. I may not even smoke the lens if I paint the backing black and have red LEDs.

Ever find anything else out about those ramcharger lights? I do kinda like your idea of taking the clear lens and fogging it in not that I'm trying to steal ideas. Just want something different with my tail lights. When they come on with the head lights they're really dim and faded looking kinda like a pinkish tint. Looks brighter when you push the breaks but still. Wanted to put led's or something in them and give it style for day time driving.

Thumbs up

I got a reply from the distribution company:

"Hello Nate, I checked with the plant and we can get you an unassailable set but at this time none are being made. The last time we made these was about 6 months ago and all were put together already and stored or distributed. I have also told the plant manager that next time we do a batch of these, to save a couple of sets without putting them together. The next time will probably be in a few months as there is plenty of production at hand at this time."

So I will be buying some and making LED arrays with the chrome removed, either black or white behind the clear lens. If my truck is white the reflectors will be, any other color than probably black.
