Default R/T Wheels

Im looking to buy a set of 17x9 r/t wheels and putting them on my 95. My stock tire size is 215-75-15 and the closest tire in 17in is 215-60-17. A 225-60-17 is closer then the 215 but will the front scrub if I turn full lock since they are a little wider?

According to a tire size calculator it is only about .2in wider so its going to be .1 extra on each side. You can turn your your wheels to full lock and measure what your clearance is in both directions and see if you can clear .1in.

My guess is yes you will clear just fine. Your stock tire is 8.46in wide a 10.5 wide tire doesn't cause rubbing for most people. That is about 2in wider.

But on a 9in rim you don't really want to go below a 9in wide tire, and the one you listed is 8.85in wide. I think most people recommend to keep it 1-2in wider tire on the rim. So you will need a min of a 10in wide tire. Find what is the stock tire size for that rim.

If needed here is a simple tire size calculator.

IIRC the 2nd gen Dakota rims had rubbing issues on the 1st gens hose to caliper banjo bolt. Some just ground down the head just slightly to gain the clearance needed. But I can't remember if it was only on the 16in rims or not.

^Tire Size calculator.
Also, may I suggest a 265 or so tire? You should have no problem up to a 10.5" wide tire. My 31 10.50s don't rub.

I'm telling you I have a 10.50 on my truck with no rubbing. 10.50 translates to 266.7mm, so a 265 should be 1.7mm narrower than what I have with no rubbing issues. Not to mention with such a wider and taller wheel it won't bulge at the sidewalls nearly as much so its widest point will be narrower than my 10.50.

Would a 215 in front and 255 in rear look stupid? I would keep the hight the same or atleast close as possible.

Here's a few shots of my two with 215/70R15's up front and 255/60R15's out back... A pretty good stance with them too.

Doesn't look bad but personally I'd run all 4 the same size... also then you can rotate them.

That was my plan to put them all on my white truck (hence the four Durango wheels and 255s) but I didn't look into whether they would clear on my truck first. I had them put on and lost all the front wheel weights and rubbed a groove into the front wheels on the way home.
