Default Dodge Dakota's 318 carb leaking from everywhere

I have a 1988 dakota, i have a 318 in it with a carb from a 1974 dodge charger carter bbd 2 barrel. i have bought a new gasket kit for it. the new gaskets leak, gas rises all the way from the space behind the cup opening at the top, its only held by one screw anyway, im using the fuel pump from an '89 dakota with the 6 cyl, im just wondering why this thing is hemorraghing gas and what i can do to fix it. ive replaced all the internals with the kit stuff it leaking before and after the rebuild.

probably too much fuel pressure. carbs only need I think 4-8 psi. injection systems run on more than double that.

Yea the 88' was an injected motor, toilet bowl type but still injected. If it's kicking up 140psi I'm a bit suprised it has blown the lines off the carb yet O_o

Definately too much pressure. I reused my pump from the 89' when I went carb, but I put a regulator on it.

well it sez it will go up to 140 psi but alot of these ads on ebay or vague at times.. im still waitin for it to get here. amyone got any idea how much cranking amps this truck takes too? im dying alot right now because i can only get like 5 cranks and the fuel issue is the reason for the excess cranking

POI, double the C.I. of the engine for amperage of battery. Ie, 239x2 = 478 CCA minimum. Your battery may have a bad cell if you are only getting 5 cranks out of it.
