Default motor swap??

hey everyone.

I am looking at buying a 1993 dodge dakota 4x4. v6, manual 5 speed. a few questions....is the v6 a magnum engine in '93?

my dad has a 1993 d150 ram. 5.2l magnum. he is buying a new motor, that doesn't require a core. so....we're gonna have the 5.2l long block sittin around. will it bolt on the dakota?
if so, what will it need? (computer, throttle body....etc?

the truck I'm looking at only has 140 000 miles....so....it shouldn't need a motor right away....I just want to know if the 318 will bolt in, and bolt up to the 5 speed. so, I can start rebuilding it, as I get the money.

thanks!

The 5.2 will drop right in. You will need a 5.2,318 or 340 flywheel. The v6 has a off set balanced flywheel. The throttlebody and all the other sensers will plug in.The computer should be from a 5.2 manual trans. You will need to open the computer plug to add the two new injector plugs. You can carefully remove these from any magnum that has wires long enough for your truck.I will post the pin numbers if I don't forget tomorrow.

Pin 17 is injector #7 and pin 18 is injector #8 .Take a small flat screwdrive to the wrecker to lift the strip out of the center of the plug.Looking into the center of the plug you will be able to see the little tab to lift and release the pins. The other two wires connect to the positive feed from the harness.

I have not seen a 93 flywheel or flexplate but the 88 I seen had several counter balanced large drill holes.

I don't think the V6s got hte NV3500 needed for the 5.2L. Might need to be a little careful on whether or not the tranny can handle the 5.2, especially since you're talking about one of the older higher compression 5.2s.
