Chevy small block swap?
actually there is a web site (LSDAK.COM) for these conversions. I considered doing it myself, but was afraid it would get into more then I was willing or able to do. Mine is 4wd and I couldn't find anything specific for this conversion.
But some of the advantages are, aftermarket support is much better for GM vs Mopar. The LS motor is 1 to 2 inch. shorter, and that would really be nice with a early gen 1 Dakota. IMO the LS motor has much more potential then the magnum.
Oh, just wanted to add, things like this is what makes hot rodding interesting. Model T and Model A's with chevy or hemi motors!!! Im sure glad everyone doesn't take the position that they must have a ford motor in those cars.

And from what I've read for the past couple years, Mopar's just don't get the mileage than a gen1 Chevy does. Let alone the LS.
Could you imagine a Magnum swapped Dakota getting 25-28mpg???
Heck, I was getting 22+ in a 2000 full size Sierra!! A first gen Dakota is about 2700# (?)
