I am considering getting a 4cylinder 4x4 to help me with towing and hauling. I take a bit of a hit on MPG, but am I right assuming that out on the mountain or towing my boat it will help?
If I were going to be towing a boat, I wouldn't even consider a 2WD. I've been on several boat ramps that were so slippery I couldn't pull a boat up them in 2WD. I'd have been screwed if I didn't have 4WD.

I vote the Ford ranger as well or you could go up and get a F-150, they are not terribly bad on gas and can haul that boat of yours. Also have you ever thought of getting a deisel for gas mileage, or run propane on your v6?
