Default 1994 dakata Slt 3.9.....no front brakes

I have been fighting with this truck now for five months and still am having the same problem. I have no front brakes. My Brake and ABS lights are constantly on and I only have rear brakes. I am no leaking anywhere. I have inspected the front and the rear brakes and everything looks fine. I took it to the dealer and was told that me brake booster and master cylinder were the cause. As of today I have replaced them both. The problem still exists. ( Not to mention now I think I will be going into traction from putting myself into a pretzel just to get the the bolts undar the dash.) Please, Any advise you might give would be appreciated.Thanks.

bleed the front, if you can not get fluid out the bleeder valve then might look at the portioning valve. if fluid comes out the bleeder then new calipers. while looking at the front calipers have someone push on the break pedal and check if the calipers move???

There is a brake Proportioning valve attached to the inside frame of the truck just below the master cylinder. The proportioning valve has a piston that moves back and forth and this allows the braking system to balance the front and rear braking. When the piston in the proportioning valve is not centered correctly, this will cause the brake warning light on the dash to be "on". Bleeding the entire brake system may cause the proportioning valve to recenter and the light to go off but you may need to manually center the piston on the proportioning valve, if it is a little "sticky".

Thanks for the info. I inspected the proportioning valve and it is shot. The only problem is that I cannot find a replacement. The junk yards in the are a are fresh out and the auto parts stores do not cary it. I think I have to look on the internet this time. If anyone on here has one, plaese let me know....Thanks

ok, update on the brakes..... I replaced the preportioning valve with a new one, Bled the antire system. I had already replaced the entire front brakes. I am still having the same issue. I have a little more braking power, but still the brake and the abs lights are on. I would appreciate any more ideas. i am right now at a loss with this truck.

Sorry you're having trouble... When did this start and how do you know you have no front brakes? Did you determine that the calipers are not moving at all when you press the pedal?

I'm thinking this sounds like an ABS signal problem, not a hydraulic problem since you were able to bleed everything thoroughly. If the pedal doesn't feel spongy, I would say you got all the air out from changing the master cylinder and front calipers. When you say you have no leaks anywhere, I am going to assume your checked the control modules also, right?

Is this a 4-wheel or 2-wheel ABS system? Assuming you've got 4-wheel ABS, check your speed sensors and wiring (especially the front) and make sure they're sending a signal to the ECM. Might also be a problem with the ABS control module under the hood.

When you say the proportioning valve was 'shot', how did you determine that?
