Talking Body damage and now a replacement truck Pics!

Well I haven't been on as much as I used to be. I am going back to school and it is kicking my butt. My Dakota is now not getting much attention. It started in the beginning of June. I was working at my parents house on a side project for them and my mom accidentally backed into my door while it was open. The door was dead, thank God, the body was still in good shape. I had to beat up the door more just to be able to open and close it somewhat till I could replace it in a few days. I got one from a junkyard for $50. I swapped over my tinted window and electronics and interior parts. So at least it is not a red or yellow door.

Next is my truck MPG is getting to me, 12mpg if I'm lucky in the city. So with some extra cash I was looking for a good MPG truck. Everything pre 03 really sucks on MPG. I was shooting for a Hemi 4wd quad cab Dodge truck. But no 4wd! There were TONS of Chevys the 5.3 is a great MPG truck but all were abused for my price range. So I found a 04 Ford F150 XLT V8 5.4 Triton 4wd Super Cab. Perfect price since there were a few small stuff to fix. I always hated Ford but with 15mpg city and 19mpg highway I can't complain. I still hate Ford. I'm going to remove the Ford emblem and put a Dodge one, LOL.

So far I had it 2 weeks, she drives smooth and strong. 300HP and 360TQ, my 5.9 stock is 245HP 330TQ, with my performance parts I got more than that. I had to replace the window washer motor and hoses, the IWE (front axle unlockable hubs) and next will be the windshield as it has a few cracks. That is about it.

So what about the Dakota, well it is too hard to get rid of it. So I will keep it as a toy and upgrade as I can. She will be driven at least every other week, maybe a trip to the mountains if they ever open the trails, they are closed due to the fire danger.

Yeah it was a great price. Low miles and tons more room and 4 doors. I can't wait to see how it tows, it has a great take off, but feels slower than I'm used to on the mid RPM's, but overall great power. My Dakota would win in a drag race.

That's a nice truck. I'd rather drive a Ford than a Chevy. And with the mid rpm thing, the 5.4 is a long stroke motor and most of it's power is down under 3.5k-4k rpms. But for a gas motor, they pull like a mean SOB.

I actually did see something Motortrend did with a Dodge with a hemi, a Ford with 5.4, and a Chevy with and 5.3. And they all had 6k lbs. behind them. Sad to say it, but off the line, the Ford smoked the other two. But at least the dodge came in second.

Booooo! I'd rather drive a chevy than be caught dead in a ford. But I guess at the same, that's my opinion. I'm getting 16 MPG (14 when i rip it)city in my Durango tho and all it took was a spark plug change.

But when I replaced the passenger door on my '93, I got the mirror, window, window vent shade thing, interior panel and everything for $40 cdn. Rock guarded it for $20 and threw it on.
