Box compatibility between years
I've started to broaden my search for a truck box, as it is tough to find one that isn't rotten around here. I have a 1991 with a short bed, and I've found a couple of good boxes online, but they say the are for a 94-96. From what I can tell there shouldn't be any difference, is anyone aware of a difference in the box between a 91-93 and 94-96? If I look at replacement side panels they say they are good from 87-96, but I'm not sure if something changed with how they mount to the frame. Thanks!
the short beds are the same length and the long beds are 8ft. the only differece inthe short beds are the body change in 97 and the newer dakota short beds which are 5ft and 6ft depending on the cab style
Thanks, so the short beds from 91-96 should be the same? That is my main concern, as I see listings for entire short bed boxes being for 94-96 or 91-93, but nothing 91-96. I figured this was just the people listing it not knowing exactly what was interchangeable, but wanted to check just in case the mounts or something changed throughout the years.
Make sure the fuel filler is compatible - they did change stuff about the fuel system around those years. Also the tailgates. Check out Allpar for year-by-year changes.

the boxes are the same. the tailgates changed. the filler necks are the same(we just did a box swap on a friends short bed).
and also junkyards and stealerships have the swap-ability info for vehicles. i found this out after the window regulator went on my intrigue.
