I need some fluid for my manual tranny, Someone told me to go to advance auto and just get atf+4. Then i did research and seen i needed gear oil, Went back on exchanged it for gf-5 but then i seen that if i have brass parts i need gf-4 or what ever, Im not sure if i have brass parts in my tranny. what do you guys use/ suggest. Im tight on money right now -.-

Don't use GL-5. It can harm your synchros. Use the GL-4 (assuming your transmission actually requires gear oil. The newer NV3500 takes a special fluid).

It's actually pretty common. I would use whatever your manual says to use for the temperatures you expect to encounter.

Use the proper gl rated gear oil. (I beleive its 4, whatever the manual states). I used it in my 95 and never had any issues in the extreme cold (Less than 32* down to single digits) however when you FIRST start driving in low temps its just a little goey for the first few shifts.
I wouldn't run motor oil because in the spring I wouldn't want to change it again.

I believe the A535 was the np2500 .. I can double check but that's my remeberance from the day ..

Edit.. yes it is known as the Np2500 and was very common with the 2.5 :O

Should I use normal or synthetic. Is it okay If I use one quart of gl4 gear oil and 1quart of motor oil or should I just stick with the motor oil?
