Preformance PCM
So I have a chance to get a what I suspect is a used preformance PCM what kind of gains and losses am I going to get if I buy this?
Edit; it's for a 1992 don't know if that matters mine is a 94.

there's definately a good amount of seat of the pants power gain, i cant say as to how much because i myself cannot find that information. i just installed one on my 93 V6 and boy did it really wake her up. before it would barely spin tires from a standstill, but now all it wants to do is spin tires. i know the rev limiter gets bumped from either 4800 or 5200 to 6000rpm. it has a much more aggressive ignition timing and fuel mapping, which raises torque throughout the entire range. given the preinstalled mods i have on my truck, it really picked up the mid-high rpm power. but this is just my personal experience. now as for it working on your truck, it might run it but it could throw a check engine code, if the price is right and the pt number matches a mopar perf PCM pick it up.

You might have problems with detonation since your '94 is a returnless fuel system and the '92 PCM is for a return fuel system. The '92 PCM is calibrated to see a rise in fuel pressure as vacuum drops with acceleration. Your '94 fuel system can't provide that unless you convert it like I did on my '94. I tried a '93 performance PCM on my '94 before I did the fuel system conversion and got bad knocking even with using premium (91 octane is the highest I can get around here).
Doesn't look terribly hard to change out but is it worth it or should I just wait and buy a new one for a 94

I would suggest just to buy a new Mopar Performance PCM for a Ram 94 (I assume you have a 5.2).
Just to let you know I have a 93 Dakota with a 5.9 Magnum with the return fuel system with the 94-95 Ram Mopar PCM (returnless in these years) and she runs like a dream, no problems with detonation, premium fuel is required by Mopar for the High Performance PCM's but I hardly use it. No problems with regular fuel.
