i have recently acquired a 1994 dakota it has over 450k on it, burns a little oil but it runs great. i am looking to replace the engine i do, like the 3.9 but am interested in what other engines are mount compatible for easiest swap operation.

any swap will require a bit of work.. the 5.2 magnum is an option but would require tranmission, and much of everything under the hood

The 5.9 is the same block as the 5.2, so you could go to a 5.9 magnum.
