I know the stress of the inspector's bay! I had to go through emissions inspection twice by the government referee when i put my 5.2 into my 92. (Not the local smog shop, the referee) and it just makes me so nervous. I'd say this is definite cause for celebration!
(But as an aside, the idea of having to put a sticker in the window is not something very appetizing... I don't like front window stickers at all, be they for parking, inspection, anything. Hope you don't have the same pet peeve!)

Glad you got it passed. Up in my part of Va. we have an emissions inspection if the vehicle is not 25 years old. After that, emissions are exempt. Still have to have a safety inspection, and in that they can look for missing cats, etc. Usually they are pretty lenient on getting picky with emissions, but do check brakes, lights, horn, suspension, etc.
For vehicles over 25 years we can get a classic or antique license and with that there are no safety inspections. When I switch my motor, if they start getting picky, Im going to just switch license.
Now with license, and inspection, I imagine you will start enjoying the truck and not just in the garage!! Keep us updated on how its running and any other changes you do to it!

They hit me on my license plate light because it didn't have a plastic lens. Well yeah, its an LED strip that's embedded in a clear flexible plastic, so it wouldn't really need a hard lens. Anyway, I found a license plate light at AutoZone that attaches to the plate, and the inspector grudgingly passed it; but he said the lens should have DOT stamped on it (it didn't).
I considered the VA antique plates but I didn't like the restrictions they put on travel and usage. I see a lot of vehicles running around town with 'em though, so maybe they don't enforce those limits so much.

I feel sorry that your states put you through emissions testing... move to America. 
To be honest though, Dakotas are pretty clean for trucks, my '88 used to get 29-32 av mpg. That's better than any truck on the market now that I know of.

I have the 22.5" radiator that came with an AC equipped V6. A new '89/V6 upper radiator hose fit perfectly on the Magnum motor and of course, on the radiator. For the lower hose to work I had to purchase a Magnum hose and adapt it to fit the lower radiator fitting. You could probably find a hose adapter for this, but I actually stretched a small inner tube over the radiator fitting then back over itself, so it was double thickness. The new hose went over the fitting a little tight but is working well.
Someone (was it you?) sent me a link to an article about relocating the AC condenser into a void under the bed and using an efan to cool it. It happened to be a 2nd gen Dakota this was done to. If you want, I can try and locate the link.
