Default What are the gear ratios in front Differential

I drive a 1995 dodge dakota sport 4x4 5.2 v8 5spd what are the front gear ratios on that type of truck with the v8 5spd and being a sport edition because when i bought this truck the four wheel drive never worked so i decided the other day to pull the front differential cover off and the pin in there was sheared off and the gear that locks and sends power to the wheels was absolultey trashed there was shavings and pieces every where in the differential so now i need all new gears for the front differential so i need to know the ratios for the front end if anyone could help i would gladly appreciate it oh and by the way the sticker that tells all this on the hood when you open it up has been ripped of so i have no idea what kinds of stuff my truck has example the gear ratios so hopefully some one knows so i can get it fixed.

Front diff should match the rear diff. Check for the tag on the rear end; should show the ratio. I believe the standard was 3.55 to 1 and most 4WD Daks have that. 3.90 to 1 was an option.

I believe I have those ratios correct, if not, someone set me straight.

my 5.2 4x4 was 3:55 ..... you can check the glovebox or underhood sticker it will give what gear ratio you have or vin # and call the dealer they will have the info

There is a link in the fAQ section to get a build sheet from chrysler, it will tell you everything.

If you already have the cover off, the ratio should be stamped into the ring gear. Worst case, count the teeth on the ring gear and divide by the number of teeth on the pinion. My guess is that they're 3.55, though.

I'm not pretending to be the grammar police, but your posting left me (mentally) breathless.

Punc. tu. ation!

Wish my truck had a 5 speed, I think.
