I'm considering new heads on mine and I found this website. $150 each. Let us know how they work out if you try them.

I am about 30 miles west of DC. I have a set of chevy LT1 alum. heads. Took them to a local machine shop. He cleaned, milled, replaced guides, seals, and seats. pressure tested as well. But reused springs, retainers, valves, etc. It cost me a little over $1200.00. Any more, unless it is something custom, I go remanufacture , rather then local. And the warranty is almost always better.
Yeah I need the opposite done to my heads. A little (very) off topic, I also have a lt1! 94 firebird Formula manual 6-speed. It has every factory option/upgrade except the tires for some reason. Will you pm me if you know a great place to buy a set of shorties for it?

The heads CAN be swapped, but it's not a unbolt/rebolt type job, so it's better to not swap them.

Being a 1994, yours is a Magnum, even if you DID swap to the LA heads, they're a step back in horsepower it turns out ...

Sorry its a 95 but still a magnum, thanks for the info!

Yeah that's a little out of my price range. I actually considered going to pull a part, they charge 50 a head and a 10 dollar core charge. Even with their 30 day guarantee it's still risky though...

I_da_bomb00 - if you DO go to the pull-a-part, I'd use those as core units and get them redone at a shop.

Just a note- those $150 heads? No rocker arms, so the rockers will still have to be done on them. At least, none from the picture shown.

FWIW I don't believe anyone sells heads with rockers. You get the heads, valves, spings, keepers, seals, etc. Assembled but never the rockers.

I just shot him an email to get that confirmed. The head I got from him was for a 4cyl Mitsubishi motor that Chrysler was using in the 80's.

Default 3.9 magnum heads

Check out ebay yeah I know I know I got a set 275 free shipping for rebuilds and the cores. After the build got really good compression with them.
