Default engine swap

Hey ! new guy and hope I'm in the right section.

I have an '89 Dak with 3.9. I pulled a 5.9 out of an '86 B250 van.
Anybody know what motor mounts I will have to use ?
Thank You

On a '86? Should be the same motor mounts if 2WD. SHOULD be the same for 4WD, but that I've not checked on.

Yes, the van used the "elephant ears" mounts. Yes, the block SHOULD be cast with the "Magnum" style mid-motor mounts that the 3.9 has always used.

If, however, AllPar's notes are wrong, and the conversion was later than 1986, Schumacher ( www.engine-swaps.com ) has the motor mounts for you.

Thank you,RalphP. I'll have to take a closer look at 5.9. I was looking at tabs where present mount is. Thanks again!

I used a 5.2L out of a '89 B350 van for my '88 Dakota (4WD). This block did NOT have the mid-motor mounts, so I had to fabricate my own brackets.

I apologize for the misinformation, the AllPar page on the LA series of motors stated that the V8s got the mount bosses in the middle 80's. Hence my reply.

Sounds like it'll take a Magnum block to get a drop-in.

There's info on what Magnum and LA parts will swap back and forth at www.magnum-swaps.com . Also at www.hughesengines.com .

Thanks everyone for your replies. I have to look into options and make this a winter project.
