Default Ball Joints

Hi Guys
I went had my 1994 Dakota 2 wheel drive safety inspected last week. My upper and lower ball joints are bad. It did not pass inspection. I was wondering if the upper ball joint is threaded or if they are pressed in? Can someone inform me on this?

Thank you

According to rock auto they are pressed in but I would take a look and see. Pretty easy to tell.

Oh crap. I totally misunderstood. It looks like they are threaded. Look them up on rock auto to confirm.

Upper? They're threaded. Period.

The LOWER may be pressed or threaded.

You'll need to really soak those ball joints in your rust buster first; and to make it more fun, the special socket you can use is a 3/4" drive socket.

Have fun!

Oh, and while you're doing the joints, do the control arm bushings.

I did the Energy Suspension bushing set, and am VERY pleased with it in my 1988 2WD.

They ARE nice.

Well, compared to the rotten, 1/2 missing, hard as the shaft "rubber" ones I took out *grins*
