Heh. I didn't.
Converting to a factory 5 speed will also require a matching flywheel and clutch.
However, that will be the same for the T56 as for the factory option 5 speed.
The hydraulics may be available as a complete package; RockAuto lists the Dorman as a complete assembly (only missing the pedal assembly!) for about $122 the day I post this.
Pedal assembly sure, but that's not "Can I fit a T56" but "Can I convert to manual", which is a slightly different question *grins* And the pedal can come out of a 4 or 6 cylinder car; so that gives a MUCH wider base.
Blizzbang will also want a manual ECU since it conditions a few lines differently.
OTOH, I've found all the HARDWARE for tuning an ECU; all I need to do now is find a valid ASM file and valid TPL files for the SBEC/SMEC in the affected years, BoostButton has the SCI/FTDI adapter; FTDI has the, well, FTDI cable; and MPTune/MPScan are free programs to tune or scan a SMEC/SBEC equipped vehicle. So far so good.
One thing rarely mentioned in a auto/manual swap is that, due to the different gear ratios, it may be desired to change the rear end ratio. A LOT of that will depend on why the changer is wanting to change ... and how much of the desire is real, how much is on misinformation, and how much is on "Jim Bob said it was better manual!" without considering that Jim Bob lives on a farm, and the person wanting to go manual drives 5 miles in 1 hour every morning stop and go traffic to/from work ... *grins*

This will be done In a few years. I've always been good about finding good prices, and as it is, it's gonna replace that 46rh I've got in there now. Overall cost is estimated to be around 4k. Then throw in the engine rebuild, 6.5k. Which isn't terrible for a truck I can use forever.
