Default Pdc box question(picture)

Ive been troubleshooting a non running fuel pump when you turn the key on and from all the pics ive seen it looks like i'm missing the fuel pump relay. The top left spot has no metal tabs of any kind to even accept a relay as if it was optional and my truck just didnt have it. Look at the pic and tell me what you think. Currently there is no engine in the truck but I dont think that will affect the pump coming on briefly with the key on. I just pulled a pdc cover from the junk yard and it shows that slot being for a fuel pump relay also.....

I looked at mine (3.9l) and pulled a couple relays. There is definitely a difference between those sockets and the ones with no relays as far as contacts. Have you found a FSM yet? Do you know anyone with a 2.5 that you can look at?

Due to how rare the 4-banger was (for 1988, it was a whopping 2.5% of sales, according to Dodge's records!), your best bet may be to pick up a copy of the Factory Service Manual on Ebay (Bishko also sells it, but they're at full retail; RockAuto has it on a small discount; Ebay sellers typically sell them for under $20) and check the wiring in it.

I suggest you put direct power to the pump just to make sure it works.

Ive done that and the pump is good, I just downloaded the 95 factory service manual off the site and think I found my answer. Straight from the manual:

The PCM monitors the distributor pick-up signal to

determine engine speed and compute injector synchronization.

If the PCM does not receive a distributor

signal when ignition switch is in the RUN

position, it will de-energize (remove ground). Battery

voltage will not be supplied to the fuel pump,

SO since I have no engine in the truck there is also no distributor in the truck . The pcm isn't seeing that signal so its not giving the asd relay its ground. To verify I will plug the distributor in and try it. I should have fuel spraying at that point. I will update back once confirmed. Thanks for the help/ideas

Is that the original PDC? The fuel pump has to be running off the ASD relay.
