Biggest thing I would worry about is mice.

I would store it in the open air, put a couple sticky traps around it just in case. Mice like tiny, cozy spaces.

Also, freeze plugs are there for a reason. If you do remove them, it will be much easier to install with the motor not in the truck.

I have been told that mice and rats don't like the smell laundry fabric sheets put off. Grandpa told me this all the time and so I stuffed them all on the motor before I covered it up.

And yes I will probably changed them while its outside of the truck but t o be honest I looked at them and they are not rusty or anything they r all bright and shiny. I guess that's to be expected since this motor has 68,000 miles on it.

2 things,

My suggestion on oiling the cylinders was in fact based on 2 month projects turning into 2 years, espically with me!!

Those freeze plugs may look fine on the outside, but inside is where the rust will be.

Look forward to following your updates with the engine install!

I will keep all of that in mind for sure. And yes I will post updates when I begin the install for sure!!
