2002 5.9l magnum & 46re swap into a 92 dak
Im buying a complete running 02 Dodge Ambulance to swap the running gear into my 92 dak. Was wondering all i need to make it work. I know the harness and pcm. New driveshaft but will the 02 pcm be able to run my 92 guages? I know i need the cat and 02 sensors too. Anyone put a ob2 engine a obd1 vehicle. Any suggestion would be apprieciated. Thanks.

If you also rewire the inside to support the OBDII port, you may have to do a fusion to keep both working.
I'd suggest picking up the FSM for both, and comparing the wiring for the affected portions.
The other choice would be to pick up a 1992 PCM, 1992 harness, and use a 46RH instead of the 46RE.
(Or mix; use a 1996 ECM and harness, and use the 46RE with that.)

What engine did your 92 originally come with?

keep the 92's transmission and be sure to use the flexplate from the 360. You will have to egg out 1 hole on the flexplate because prior to 96 they had 1 of the TC to flexplate mount bolts off center to guarantee the balance weight would end up in the right place but in 96 they moved the weight to the flexplate instead of teh converter so after that they could use the same converter with a 3.9 o a 318 or a 360, and with the weight on the flexplate it no longer mattered what orientation the converter was bolted to the flexplate (AKA flywheel)
then get a computer for a 95-older van or pickup that had the 360 in it and... done. whats wrong with the 318 taht is in the 92 now? I know the 318 in my 92 even with only 3.55 gears is "ballsier" than the one in my 96 even though the 96 has 3.91s in it.
