still wont start no 12v to coil

Default still wont start no 12v to coil

i have officially done everything new pcm every sensor and it still wont start i still cant get spark and i hear my asd clicking constantly but vary quietly anybody have any idea whats going on ? 94 dak 4x4 318 5 speed anywhere i can get new harnesses will auto harnesses work for motor ?im out of ides here

Will it start if you simply bypass the asd relay?

You do that by jumping 12v directly to the coil right? If so then no

The relay has 4 terminals. 12VDC+, Gnd (for the coil) and (12VDC in, 12VDC out) for the relay contact. It gets confusing when people refer to the relay as the coil...the relay is made up of a coil and contact.

Jumping 12V to the coil will not do anything, as you should have 12V there anyway unless a fusible link has fried. The ECM provides a GND to energize the coil, so to bypass the relay or make it pull in, you would need to jumper a ground to the ground terminal of the coil. Now, all that is testing is whether the coil energizes. The other part of the equation is the 12VDC in/out through the contact. If the relay is bad, it's possible, tho unlikely, that the relay contact doesn't close even when the coil is energized and allow the 12V to pass from the 'in' side to the 'out' side. What's more likely, is that you are missing the 12V on the 'in' side from the ignition circuit. To truly Bypass the relay, you can jumper 12V to the output side of the relay contact and don't worry about the ASD relay energizing. Or just jumper 12V to the ignition coil.

Im getting 3 or 4 volts to the coil I know my pcm is good I have two new ones I just got where is the fuseable link that I would be looking for I have tried just jumping 12v directly to the coil and it did nothing so what your saying nis jump 12v to the output side if the asd relay and run another ground to it ?

No.

Using the Factory Service Manual, jump between 12V and the output in the socket after removing the ASD.

That will eliminate the ASD for testing purposes. Don't leave it like that unless you want to kill your battery.

Correct....take a jumper wire from the + of your batter terminal to the relay contact that feeds the coil. That completely bypasses the relay. The ground I mentioned was to test the relay if you want to see if it clicks in. If you don't know which wire on the relay is the contact you could just run 12v straight to the ignition coil. You said you did that but did you mean the relay coil or the ignition coil? If you put 12v to the ignition coil and you get no spark then the ignition coil is bad.

I have two new ignition coils there's no way there both bad any other ideas like where are the fuseable link s I can check

Do you have a volt meter? If so, yank the ASD relay, and verify you have power at pin 30. (they are labeled on the bottom of the relay, use that as a map to determine which pin you want.)

I chased a cooling problem for a week...bad thermostat out of the box.
