When you say it is bottoming out, do you mean metal to metal? ie: the rear axle hitting the frame?
If so, are the bumper stops in place between the axle and frame?

If you are bottoming out, a set of coil over shocks are at best, a band aide on a problem.
This is what I would do, if it was my truck
1. make sure all bump stops are in place.
2. check rear leaf springs for cracked leafs
3. check condition of shackles and spring bushings.
4. If all of the above checks out, and you are carrying heavy loads, then I would add a leaf or two to your springs.

This would require more labor, but parts would be cheaper and it would be done right. Again, IMO coil overs are a band aide in a case like this.

well thanks for the info.

I looked into those coil overs and for what I need I think they would be overkill.

turns out the bottoming out was actually the new muffler hitting the driveshaft because I didn’t measure width..

but i got that all fixed up and replaced the egr valve also.

Next at I am going to start fixing the front axle up a bit replacing parts. First is cv boot
