Default Rust removal

Built an electrolysis tank. Using it to do all the rear frame cross members. Here's a pic of the setup

So far it's been 8.5 hours. I pull the electrodes about every 2 hours and hit them with a wire brush real quick. Part was ridiculously rusty. Here's a pic after 8 hours

Looking good. I just "electrolyzed" the steel trim piece above the windshield on my convertible Dak. Only thing I did on the clean half in the picture was knock the black oxide off with a scotchbrite pad; it came off easy. It was fairly rusty so there was some pitting, but after treating to some metal prep I primed it and filled the pits with spot putty. It came out nice after sanding and a few coats of paint.

Go to your local hobby shops or look around online for some pure zinc bars or sheets, then do the electrolysis in reverse. If you use the link bar as your negative then your carpart as the positive you can actually zinc plate your part

Default Update on electrolysis tank.

Dang tank is working great. Had to go pick up some more washing soda from Ace hardware. I've got the last crossmember in the tank now. Here's the first crossmember I did, this is after tanking it, and repairing the bad spots.
