I was just wondering, I have a full set for the front, but only 3 total for the rear. I guess I could take one to Ace Hardware and have them match it.

Okay, front speaker, from hole to hole. 5.75 inches.

Now that speaker in the rear, without pulling one can not get an accurate measurement, but roughly 10 by 7 inches.

So the rear ones are 6x9s mounted in there. That explains the problem with the bottom screws.

Front is a nominal 5.25" speaker; that'll barely fit when turned the proper way. A 5.5", if you can FIND it, will fit better. A 6" would be snug and require some holes drilled for mounting screws; but those would be nice.

Say a 6" "subwoofer" and add a pair of tweeters up high.

Something like https://www.parts-express.com/celest...-ohm--294-2052 in the door, and https://www.parts-express.com/beston...eeter--277-114 up high on the door for a tweeter (this will need the door panels modified, alas.)

Other, I'd grab some good 5.25" and understand that there's not that much bass out of them; there's a reason why I have a 8" sub to go under my seat.

So that is the promblem I am not sure what I a tweeter is, I know that a couple of the mounts that I have seen that would fit the 5.25, have a spot for one up a ways. but how are they wired, in series like the plugs I am going to do in the dash or am I going to have to run seperate wires? I have a sub-woofer on my computer, yet the majority of the time I watch movies and do things with blue tooth headphones, the only difference I notice when I use the speakers and sub-woofers is more of a surround in the sound and especially in fight and suspense scenes a deeper sound.

5.5' speaks like these?

Not necessarily those exact ones, but yes, like those.

Well, woofers go down low, subwoofers go under the woofers. Tweeters are like birds and are for high frequencies. You'll see midrange used also; those are in the middle of the audio range.

No, not in series; there's not that much power on the higher frequencies. They actually wire in parallel, but with a crossover of some kind (that puts the lows to the woofer and the highs to the tweeter) to direct the audio to the appropriate driver.

Standard sizes are 5.25 and 6.5. It's the 6.5 that is snug. The oddball 6 if you can find it fits the factory hole and mounts perfectly. I used them on my 90 vert.

So a seperate set of wires to the subwoofers, the tweeters and the speakers? How does anything know that is high, medium or low frequency?

Amp --> Crossover, Crossover has the multiple outputs.

Hence the name, "crossover" ... it crosses over the frequencies to the proper output.

Okay, all Greek to me. If I go the Amp route I will pay someone that knows what they are doing. There is a guy in Sacramento that works with the Sheriffs office, makes a point in his ads on that and that he is licensed and binded. I know a couple of the deputies and they have great things to say about him and his people.

New speakers are do in tomorrow, the rear ones arrived today. Going to wait until everything is here to do anything. As the heat gun and butt connectors that contain the solder are due in tomorrow also.

At least Amazon got that part of the order right.

Well no new speakers, somehow my order was "lost". I am staying with my parents, checking on them for health issues, so I use Amazon lockers, never had a problem until today, for some reason instead of putting my speakers, T-handles, lift supports and such in the locker, they supposedly had an employee sign for it. No employee by that names works at that location and at that time of day only a few people were there. Amazon is good, they are refunding my money but it will be Monday at the earliest before I get everything. So much for spending a leisurely Sunday working on the truck.
