Afternoon all,

I was trying to get to the speakers on my Dakota to check the connectors prior to an upgrade from looking I only see three (3) screws. I removed them and I get no play anywhere, I tried running a small pry bar and gentle. Any thoughts, is there a hidden screw/bolt?

 

There are plastic clips. Little christmas tree fellers.... and they hang on TIGHT. You want the right tool for those guys, as it is way to easy to break the door panel.

 

Not the door panel, this the extended cab, no extra doors. Where would I get the tool and what does it look like? Is it something that O'Rielly's would lend or would I need to buy it somewhere?

 

Which speakers? Front (in the door) Or rear???

I have removed the door panel several times with no problems. As a matter of fact since I was working on the speakers and the lock the door panels are in the back locked up under the topper.

 

Ah. Ok, yeah, those rear panels, I haven't a clue.....

 

Well you are no help. Google has not been a help, neither has Youtube, although at least there I did see some neat videos and some things I want to try. I am starting to think that what might help is a recipacating saw, a blow torch, primacord , TNT if it really gets bad.

I am sure that someone on here has taken them out, just need the right person to read my post and say, you just do XYZ and they it just pops right out slicker than grease through a goose.

 

Mine had four screws holding the speakers in; but that's a standard cab.

I had no problem getting the grill off it popped right off. My issue and I will take pictures in the morning. Remember on the other thread I said that while I have done radios installs before that this was my first time attempting speakers. If there are four screws holding the speakers, I only pulled the drivers side off, my bad, I could only see the two on the top and the speaker seems to be bigger than the opening. That is what lead me to think that the whole side panel needed to come off.

Again I will take pictures in the morning and when you guys see it maybe the answer is right there and I am not seeing it.

 

On my regular cab I had to remove the entire panel stating with the plastic trim under the window then each side panel. You may have to let out a couple screws to the trim that goes over the door and the kick plate on the rocker panel as that rear pillar trim buries itself into each of them. The speaker is screwed to the panel if I remember correctly.
