Default Front Winch Options? Building super mild overlander

Hey Guys,

I have a trip to the rockies planned, already built up the interior of the bed for camping a bit, but I want to get a few things done before I leave. It's a V6 RWD truck, but whatever, it's clean and mind. Knowing that it's 2wd, I was thinking LSD + Winch and that would be fine for MOST things.

However, I don't see many first gens with winch mounts. Anybody have pics?

Also, looking for a bolt in solution for my rear end; it's currently open. I tried getting quotes to install an LSD in my axle, but they were all $1000+. Hoping to find a posi rear end for sale, please keep your eyes open for me.

Thanks!

I can find the LSD's themselves, but paying someone to install them is generally over $600 in labor, so you're talking $1000-1500ish.

I'm looking for the entire axle. :P

I saw a post in another Dodge forum where a guy put in a PowerTrax and it only cost $115.00 to install it. Apparently it is not as extensive a job as changing out the whole diff. That post was in 2003 so prices are probably higher now.

Not that I have seen. Might be able to find a 2" receiver mount for the front, and the appropriate winch mount that will plug into it. May be forced to fab something up.

There are a few grille guards that you can add a winch carrier on to it. You may have to modify a gen 2 version or even a 2nd gen winch bumper.
The Jeep Grand Cherokees are similar in width, you could modify one to fit.
What I did was custom make a front hitch and use a hitch winch tray. See the FAQ2 in this section for more info.
