Default Fog / Driving light mounting options

What are people doing to mount fog lights? The front bumper kinda sucks for providing a place to mount fog lights and finding a bumper with provision for fogs is really not easy to do although I like the look of the fog bumper.

There's a JY about 40 miles away that says they have one of the fog light bumpers but I haven't seen it nor do I know what they want.

I'm tempted to build a mount that comes through the gap between the bumper and the lower spoiler, that seems to be about the only place where a mounting can be done. I'm not really interested in drilling through the bumper at the top although I could, but that would be the least attractive option I think.

I haven't put it on yet, but I have a platform designed to bolt to where the license plate would go (and you can put the plate in front of it there), with mounts for a pair of lights.

It looks like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bull-Bar-St...-/192748086282

(The one I bought is NLA, but eh, there's several up to $75 each that all look the same.)

Thanks for posting that, I like the idea!

I did run across this today at the JY when checking on the 87. The truck it belongs to has a mangled front bumper and the clips to hold the upper piece in place are all broken off, but the clincher was that the passenger end where it bolts to the fender was broken off, otherwise I would have tried to use it. The truck still had the fog mounting brackets and some remnants of the fog lamps themselves, but it was all pretty rotten. I might go back to see if I can get the mounting brackets off, just in case they might be usable in some way.

Well my truck didn’t come with a valence on the bumper but where the clip would go into the bumper it’s pretty much drilled and all I did was bolt them in

What year truck are you working with? FWIW I have been looking at a 91 S-10 valance for fog lights. Want to measure one and see if it would fit my 87.

This is for my 94. I might stop by the JY after Christmas and get that fog light valance and see if it can't be mended at the one corner. I don't care if there are a few strategically placed screws in the front to mount it, the bolt mounts under the front bumper are still intact so it should be ok. The fog light mounting brackets are there too so I should be able to use those to mount my Bosch Pilot lamps.

The S-10 spoiler is I think a bit narrow for the Dakota but I haven't measured yet. I do know that the S-10 valance has been used on some VW cars, namely the Fox built from 87-93, and that leads me to believe it's too narrow.
