That was the upscale gauge for 1988; the tach was actually added DURING 1988 production, and was still an option (albeit, like the Aero front clip from 1992-1995, a "Almost 100%" option!) through until the end of 1993.

Not that the tach was 100%; the FSM does show the different pinouts and boards in the 1993 FSM for both gauge clusters.

I always found it odd that straight drive vehicles didn't get a tach, but the auto ones did. Back then auto was an option, lol.

Mine is a 5 speed, without a tach. But I have the little shift lite on the dash to tell me I am revving to high...

335,XXX on mine, no rebuilds, just maintenance and luck I suppose. But my 95 is an auto with a tach. Doesn't mean much anyway the thing is wound up to 3500 all the time and don't bother looking at it because id rather not know if im about to send a rod through the block... lol
