I stated on the first post that I needed a rear differential with 3:90 gear ratio.

3.90 was available in 2 and 4wd. Dodge has cut back on ratios. I've had everything from 2.73 to 5.88 gears from the factory.

Not sure how much you want to change the truck, but you may consider a newer dakota with the 9.25 ratio. Its my understanding that they will bolt up to your existing leaf springs, and the driveshaft hooks up.... May have to make up some of you brake line, and may have to do something with the emergency brake cable.
Just a suggestion if you cant find a good 8.25 rear....

Default Update

So after I found the rear diff and pulled it at a wrecker/junkyard I discovered that the transfer case was fused and I had to replace it ( no way to rebuild due to the craptasic state it was in.) Got a used rebuilt one for $275 and installed it. Yay it is now up and running though I did notice that the front drive shaft was missing. Apparently it was sitting on the floorboard in the back of the cab.. why would somebody take it off?? Just a weird...

They probably pulled it when the transfer case wouldn't release it.
