93 ragtop, we're on the same page. 40 years ago I was working as a painters helper/spot painter in local body shops. Wow, have times changed!

In answer to your questions:
1) All paint and supplies were bought from Summit Racing. They repackage it in their own containers but I believe Kirker paint is their supplier. I've used their products before on my roadster and am quite pleased.

2) No, it wasn't a factory color match. Summit has a fairly limited supply of colors to choose from. They had a selection of 3 or 4 whites. I chose the one that was closest to my color then brought it into my local paint store, along with the gas door from my truck, and they matched the color for me. Cost $30.

3) Everything I do is on a budget. 2-stage would have cost too much $$$. As I stated, it's a truck! I just wanted to get some color on it so it would look good and hopefully last another 20 years. The single stage provided the color and the clear gave it the extra protection.

(but you can tell that it's a bad paint job lol)

I got to looking around for a picture of my old '84. I sid '84 as that's what the title said. There wasn't much of the original mechanical parts left after nearly 400K miles.

This is the truck that went through 2 feet of snow with no problem. A couple of days later, the frame broke behind the cab.

I think it looks nice, good job and a lot of labor invested in that.

Only thing I would do differently is I would not reinstall the wheel opening trims (flares).

I didn't. The screws wouldn't come out so I taped them off and painted over them. Probably a little tape left on them in the picture.

want to do another? It's white too. My 96 club cab looks as bad as your "before" pix.

I was referring to the OP, the white Dakota. The OP removed the plastic fender flares to paint the truck but then reinstalled them. I think the Dak looks better without those stupid garbage collectors.
