Hello, I have a 1994 Dodge Dakota that has been giving me issue for about a week now. It started when I was driving, and as I accelerated to about 45 mph, it made a strange revving noise, almost like what happens when you run a chainsaw or weed eater. I will try to attach a sound file to try to better explain my problem. If needed, it does have an automatic transmission, and the truck is not pulling off any codes.
Any help is appreciated!

 

Sounds like it's bouncing off the rev limiter. What RPM does that happen at?

 

Hard to say. Strangely enough, my truck does not have a tachometer in the dashboard. Not sure how I could tell that.

 

Got a scanner that will read live data? That would tell you.

 

It must not be an SLT if it doesn't have a tach. Sounds like base truck.
