Default Spindles :(

ok Yall, about three weeks ago I had to replace the spindle on the drivers side of my 93 the half shaft was in good shape but had a manufacture date of 93 on it so I ordered one form Rock Auto, got a spindle from Powell's in RR and torqued the hub on, or course since i was that far n I did the ball joints on both sides ( I know own a socket that fits the top ***** $27 from Snap on) put the entire thing back together and heard a roar from the right side now, took it apart and the bottom slide bolt for the caliper is lose, the threads are gone and it was a self tapper anyway, so now she sits till hopefully tomorrow ) Monday) when Powell's decides to pull the other side for me( $65 ) so I can reassemble the entire Dakota, luckily I don't have to replace the hubs, but I DID discover that come the warm months I get to take it all back apart AGAIN and replace the axle bearings and seals, I say warmer months cause it gets cold in my garage even with the kerosene heater going, I had it built 22' by 26' and 12' high in case I have to yank a engine and heating a steel building that big with a 30,000 bu isn't east LOL
Anyway I HIGHLY recommend that everybody check the front diff bearings from time to time, I've had this particular Dakota for three years and the guy before me deserved a boot in his rear, he was building it as a mudder for his girlfriend, only good thing is with et 3" suspension, and 3" body life getting under it is relatively easy
parts : 2 half shafts, 2 upper and 2 lower ball joints, two spindles, one hub..........so far.....thank GOD for ebay and rock auto

Not motor related but I assure you if you insulate the building it will hold the heat you are making instead of just letting it out. Do the roof first. Actually first you should go through it with a spray foam can or two and seal all air leaks.

I had the Amish build my 24X36 garage. I had them put the vapor barrier in when they put the roof on. I then got numerous 4X8 sheets of 2 inch styrofoam insulation and put them on the walls with wood panel sheeting over them for looks. I've got a variable output propane tordedo heater that heats it just fine. I did put a ceiling fan in the rafters so the heat that goes up is pulled down. I've put windshields with butyl strips in a car in my shirt sleeves when it was 10 degrees outside.

May have to hit car-part.com to see if anyone has spindles that is either close enough to drive to, or will ship them.

Y'know, that's actually a separate piece from the steering arm, but usually sold in the boneyards as one piece ... I wish someone with enough insurance to cover their *** in case someone does something stupid with the parts would make a billet part with a strong enough billet.

Just for reference, they're part numbers 4447 134 and 4447 135 for the right and left spindle/caliper brackets without the steering arm. They show that as the same 90-93, but the steering arm changed in 1991, so the assembly as a whole will be different in the Hollander.

thanks for the numbers man. Powell's in Roanoke Rapids strips it to just the spindle, I have to take a slide bolt to make sure the threads are ok unless they leave them in there for me to inspect. Made the mistake of calling LKQ and driving 80 miles to Clayton for a 4x4 Dakota's that was $21 LKQ said on the site they had three 4x4 there, when I got there I walked the entire yard so many times row by row, I should have took my nitro stat wish me cause I needed it just from the walk, what did I fond? 5 Dakota's, all 2wd, I was so pissed I called them back, cussed them out and told them I will NEVER go to their yard again in my life even if the parts are free
