Default Can I get my ECM reprogrammed?

I am in the midst of a 3.9L to 5.2L swap, and currently rebuilding my 5.2L that I got from an auto salvage. When the time comes, could I get my current V6 ECM reprogrammed to work with the V8? I heard somewhere that the hardware on the ECMs is the same, and they only need reprogramming. If not, I'll just get a V8 ECM then. But if so, is there somewhere I could get mine reprogrammed?

If it's the 96 in your sig, then yes, you can get it reprogrammed. Likely need to go to the dealer, or, a fairly high zoot shop, that does custom tuning. (and not even all of those support the 96-07 PCMs.) You will need to run wires for the two additional injectors, and probably need to extend the wiring for the sensors at the front of the engine. (temp sensors, maybe IAT as well.)

If it's a 1996, contact Ryan at FRPTUNING.COM or Marty at UTAWESOME.COM and ask them. I wouldn't swear that the hardware IS the same, but it might be; I bet they would know since they tune these motors.

OTOH, you can pick up a JTEC V8 ECU for less than you'll pay them to drop you a program off ...

OTGH, if the motor isn't bog stock, you'll probably need a tune from them ANYWAY.

Thanks. I'll look into that.
