Transmission Seal Leak
I replaced my tranny seal yesterday because my truck has leaked since I bought it and was tired of it. But when I replaced the leak just got way worst and I think it was due to the fact I yanked, pushed, and pulled on the pan until it came out because it was pinched between the exhaust and tranny. I am replacing the pan tomorrow and want to know if I could use the same seal I just installed or if I need to buy another one again.
Step 0 - Drop the Y pipe to make clearance.
I presume you mean the transmission pan seal; there's more than one seal on a transmission.
Step 1 - Examine the current seal. If in doubt, use a new seal.
Step 2 - USE A PROPER TORQUE WRENCH. Do NOT just crank down on the bolts; if you did earlier, you may have warped the pan, which will mean it will leak. Period. Until it's straightened out and properly bolted into place.
While the pan's off, did you do a band adjustment?

Well, what year is your truck?
And yes, you NEED a torque wrench to avoid making the leak worse.
Also the specs.
Torque wrenches that are adequate are available at Harbor Freight ... there's a coupon for $9.99 each https://www.hfqpdb.com/coupons/3364_...477023.419.png .
Specs that should work can be had from the 1995 or 1996 factory service manuals downloadable from the FAQ posting here; I'd grab those for now, but obtain the proper FSM for your year truck.

It’s a 94 Dakota. I ordered the torque wrench and new pan, just waiting on the parts to come in since I don’t want to drive the truck and get em cause the leak is bad. Will let y’all know how it turns out.
Lay it on a flat surface, and see what you think. If the bolt holes are dimpled, you can hammer then flat again.

I bought a new pan and it came in today, and again, no luck. This pan was the correct shape this time, but was too deep to fit between the exhaust and transmission. Anyone with a 94 Dakota who replaced a pan that can tell me where they got it? Please and thank you.
Bc the pan Has a scratch across the the whole seam under the seal where it was originally leaking out of. That’s why I tried replacing the seal, not seeing it til I took the pan off. Thought I mentioned that, guess not.
